Read an excerpt from this section:

After another brutal session with Dr. HappyFeelGood, I lay back in my hospital bed, my eyes searching out the city below, wondering what life outside might be like now. It’d only been two years. Two fucking years. It seemed insignificant and insurmountable at the same time. It wasn’t like I was one of those coma patients who awoke after decades and found the entire world completely altered— family and friends dead or aged beyond recognition— with an entire lifetime of history behind them. Two years really wasn’t that long— a couple of iPhone upgrades. Maybe a few missed holidays. But for someone who’d been asleep for those twenty-four months, I wondered just how much I’d missed. My fingers itched to turn on the television, to binge watch the news and late night TV. But I had been instructed not to do so. “Only research the time you lost for now,” the doctor had instructed. Why? I had no idea. Probably to keep my weak, fragile brain from overloading. The way everyone tiptoed around me in here, that seemed a real possibility. Like I was a recently found nuclear bomb no one knew how to diffuse. The nurses and doctors all spoke in hushed tones when they entered my room, as if anything louder than a whisper might set me off into some deranged fit. Hell, even the woman who brought in my food looked fearful of me. Was I that much of a freak? Didn’t people wake up from comas all the time? I guess not. I knew I was a rarity. I understood the situation was unique and they were treading in uncharted territory when it came to treating me, but it still hurt. The loneliness. My solitary life. I was a man brought back from the brink of death to what? Usually you read these amazing stories of coma patents waking up to be reunited with their families… wives and loved ones. I had no one. Nothing but a box of memories I didn’t understand.

Favourite Quotes

“How did I get it back? I wanted it all back.” “No doubt, this was exactly what he was hoping for, and I was falling for his scheme beautifully. But as it had always been with all things August-related, I just couldn’t stop myself.” “I was too damned nice. Too damned nice and a whole lot of stupid.”

Berg_Forgetting August_E-BookAbout FORGETTING AUGUST

She can forgive, but can she forget? Some days, Everly still thinks she sees him. In the food court at the mall, or in a car speeding past as the light changes. It only lasts a second, but when it happens, she slips back to a time when she was ruled-and nearly ruined-by August Kincaid. And it doesn't matter that she's moved on, that she's about to marry another man. In those moments the only thing she can do to regain control is take a deep breath and remind herself that August can't hurt her-because he's in a coma. Except that he's not anymore. August is awake. With no memories, he sets out to solve the mystery of his lost life. He unearths a photograph of a beautiful redhead named Everly and knows instinctively that she's the key. But when he finds her, the August she describes is more monster than man. Tortured by the thought of having hurt her, August wants only to become the man Everly deserves. As the new August emerges, Everly glimpses the person she first fell in love with. But can she trust that this August is real? When the final secret of their shared past is revealed, one of them will make a choice that changes their future forever . . .

HeartfallHeartfall by J.B. McGee
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This is one of those books that is going to grab you and make you feel. It's an amazing story but one I actually had to put down for an hour take a break, regroup and head back in. I actually was so into the story I felt like it had happened to me. Absolutely amazing writing by this author. How many of us really like there person we see in the mirror everyday. This is a story of a girl who finds not one but two special men who help her see what an amazing person she is if she would only see what they see. It a touching love story although one you will need tissues to get through
The title fits the story well as your heart falls many times while you read this brilliant story

Claire Ross has never been good enough. Not for the girls in the elite group of dancers in her class and certainly not for the approval of her ballet teacher, Mr. Robins. She definitely doesn’t like what she sees in the mirror. Simply put, she doesn’t love herself, so how could she possibly love someone else?

After twelve years of friendship, Sebastian Reyes’ adoring gaze holds more. They soon find themselves unable to control their feelings for one another.

When tragedy strikes, Claire finds herself in a very unlikely and unfavorable position. Regardless of the weight of the emotion, she must make difficult decisions that impact the rest of her life.

Will Claire see that her true love has been right in front of her? Happily ever after isn’t just for fairy tales. To get hers, all she has to do is trust, open her heart and fall.

“You just let me jab my tongue down your fuckin’ throat. Now answer the question.”

“I can’t.”

“You can’t answer it or you can’t trust me?”

Maybe both. I wish he’d let me fix my shirt. “It’s complicated.”

“No, it’s not.”

He’s stubborn too. A match made in heaven. Great.  “I trust you or I wouldn’t be here.”

“Progress. Good. I trust you or you wouldn’t be here, either. I want to do more than just play your music, Claire. I’ve wanted to do more than that from the moment I saw you, and I’ve never wanted that with any girl at that school before. So, do I wanna play with the ice? Fuck yeah. You have no idea the things I wanna do to you and your pretty little dancer body.” He smirks. “Am I allowed to say that? Use pretty in other contexts where you’re concerned? Or is the word pretty a hard limit in its entirety?” My arms cross over my chest because never have I felt so exposed, so vulnerable, yet so sexy and wanted. “Quit tryin’ to cover yourself up, dammit. You’re beautiful. Don’t you believe that?”

I shake my head. “Pretty in other contexts is fine, just not pretty girl.”

“You didn’t answer my question.”

It was my hope to avoid it. “What question?” He’s already figured out I’m a terrible liar, so I’m sure this won’t go over very well.

He cocks his head and takes a step closer, which I didn’t know was possible. “I don’t really get off on whips and chains, riding crops, that kind of stuff. I’m not into hardcore BDSM. I just dabble from time to time when the mood or the need hits me.” I’m pretty sure my eyes are about to detach from my head. What. The. Hell. Have. I. Gotten. Myself. Into? “But I do love to spank. Don’t play games.”

When I was five years old I wanted to be a ballerina, so my mom signed me up for dance. Over the next ten years, I explored all three styles: tap, jazz, and ballet. Tap ended up being my favorite, and I studied it for ten years, ballet for four, and jazz for one.

The years I took ballet, I was told to grow my bangs out, to wear my hair in a bun because that’s what ballerinas do. When I ate my snacks from the convenience store because that’s what my single mom bought me after school on her way to drop me off at the studio, I was ridiculed and told if I lost just a few pounds, I’d be the perfect size for a ballerina. I was in elementary school. Looking back at those pictures, I wasn’t fat. Not even close. After my entire class was promoted to pointe and I wasn’t, I quit ballet.

While this story is fiction, there is a lot of me in Claire, but it only takes a few minutes to read the trending headlines to see that this happens to a widespread audience every day. I think there is a lot of every girl in Claire.

Do you like every part of yourself when you look in the mirror? Or did someone, society, make you feel if you lost just a little bit more weight or changed a small part of who you were, you’d be better in their eyes? And then after so long you found you didn’t like the person you saw through your own eyes, didn’t even recognize her?

Maybe it’s just me, but I don’t think so.

When I started this book, that’s not the message I’d hoped to spread or share, but that’s what it ended up being. Like all of my other books, Claire’s story was cathartic for me because it helped me release a part of my past I didn’t realize I’d been hanging onto so tightly. As much as I loved dance, those years in the studio damaged me. But on the contrary, each day in the studio, each mean girl, each hurtful comment, they took an oyster and produced a pearl. A one-of-a-kind, oddly shaped, uniquely colored, and beautiful pearl.

Every day since writing Heartfall I’ve tried so hard to look in the mirror and find something I like about myself or to ignore something I’d ordinarily criticize, and I challenge you to do the same.

We’re all beautiful and strong women. This is Claire’s story on finding her beauty and strength. Along the way, she’s blessed to find incredible love too. I hope you enjoy it.

Forever (The Finale to the This Series)Forever by J.B. McGee
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

For a series I haven't read the other three books of I fell in love with the characters and know I have to go back and read the other books. This story was outstanding and grabbed my from the beginning to the end. Although there where times I was mad at the characters I understood in the end why they had to happen the way they did. Outstanding read by a wonderful writer

this for Honor and Protect by Lori Ryan and I loved it. If you have read either of her Heroes of Evers TX books than you will adore this book. If you have then no worries you can easily read this short novella without having read her other two books. If you like suspenseful reads with a HEA then this is the story for you. This was a great fast paced outstanding story.

Read Dog Collar Limbo and it was so freaking cute. First story I've read by this author but it was a cute one. Kept my interest from the 1st to last page. Always love stories with dogs in them, having a story revolving around a dog show even better.

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I'm so glad I found this author I adore her books. I hadn't had a chance to read this and found out she was getting ready to take them out of KU so I grabbed them quickly while they were still in there. I adore this book and think I will be buying it so I can read anytime I like. I feel in love with Jack and Emma from the start. Add in Emma's son Logan and you have an award winning cast of characters. Emma has the most awesome friends and I hope to read more of them in later books.

Breaking Love (Full Hearts, #2)Breaking Love by M.J. Summers
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This is an author I've never read before. I joined a 30 day reading challenge and this was one of the books on the list we could read. It really sounded interesting so I picked it as my 1st read for that. I'm happy to say I was not disappointed at all in this book. The author kept my interest in the story from the time I picked it up till the time I finished. Although there were times I wanted to scream at both main characters to stop being dumb asses and just love each other. It actually ended up being totally different than I expected which wasn't a bad thing. I would read this author again as I think she does a great job of telling a wonderful story one that will interest many readers
